Vintage 1962 Gold Shooting Medallion Lasso Necklace
Gold toned shooting competition medal from the Salem Hunting Club, Inc, 1962, is converted into this modern and stylish lasso necklace.
We reused both the medallion as well as the two bars indicating the particular shooting category. This medal was for the "Four Positions" category, "Fifty Yards". The engraved medal shows the four positions and has great detailing including a round red background that matched the ribbon the medallion hung from. The overall shape of this medal eludes to a Maltese cross. The bars have the name of the competition category on them.
Most medals of this kind were manufactured by Blackinton & Co. out of Attleboro, Massachussetts. They were the major maker of medals for many years. Their stamp is on the lower back of the medallion.
We upcycled the pieces by using the bars at the ends of chain lengths. The medallion is the focal piece and is hung from a large spring clasp, so popular in today's jewelry designs. The chain is a heavy weight, chunky antique brass vintage curb chain.
We kept the length at more of a choker length, slightly shorter than a normal standard chain. Use the pocketwatch swivel or the spring clasp to put the necklace on and off with ease, right in the front.
A great collectible item repurposed and can now be worn in a modern way.
Included with your purchase is the original box, ribbon and the pin bar that shows the name of the Salem Hunting Club and the year of 1962. Pin this on your lapel or hunting cap as a bonus! (See last photo)
